Ha...ok...I might delete that last post...or just leave it as it is part of my "history with Fiat"...

BUT...big happiness at the moment...

Josh, the "higher up at Fiat" just called me.

I will still be doing my paperwork with Fiat of Austin....BUT my Prima is now going to be delivered to the Chrysler dealership here in Albuquerque...

YEAH...what I kinda wanted all along....

Took a few calls and some very very mild bitching (i do the killing with kindness thing)...but I will give Fiat big ups...they did listen, they did work on it, they did rectify the problem...

So Yeah...and Go Fiat!!

:)

Gavin

now my car may still end up in Austin for all I know, but right now I'm happy and thinking ABQ in a couple of days....

:)

Gavin, that is the best news I've heard in days! Glad to hear it.  I had the feeling they were going to call you;)

Re: What's happening with the cars

Thanks Chris...

Yes it was a bit of a hard road...hope I didn't come off as too bitter...

Obviously some mis-steps, but I will admit Fiat seems to be stepping up big time right now for us New Mexico Primas...

Both my car and NMDude's are leaving Santa Rosa and heading to Albuquerque...and the Fiat of Austin salesman is flying out from Austin to Albuquerque to do the sales here (Fiat is paying for his flight).

So that makes me pretty happy :).

Thanks for all the people here who stood behind me in both good and bad...I appreciate all the kind words (and the supportive curses too when we where mad :) )

Gavin

And if you had a hand in getting me some help, or letting Fiat know I was a nice guy who could use a hand :)....well double thanks.

Hi all,
Yes, Primas deliveries are delayed a bit. So what? Honestly, we have been without cars for 28 years, is several days or even 2 weeks delay really that bad? Come on....

Hi John,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting!

People might not know, but John is the President of the Fiat Lancia Unlimited car club. He has selflessly contributed to the Fiat community in ways that can never be fully measured. His commitment to the brands is obvious. People like him are the reason the Fiat Brand is still alive in this country. It's also the reason why there is a Prima Edizione.

I want to take this time to thank him and All the other HARDCORE Fiat enthusiasts for their dedication.

You have made this day possible!

Well, I don`t know what what Gavin said  that made them decide to deliver our cars in Albuquerque, but I thank him for for being persistent.  Couldn`t be happier that I only have to go  220 miles to get my car!

Matt, our salesman, seems pretty happy to be coming out, cause he wants to go skiing in the mountians while here!

An added bonus...I will get to meet Gavin in person!!

Re: What's happening with the cars

Well I'm not sure it was my persistence...maybe a bit...and a bit that i'm a sweet guy :)

but probably mostly just Fiat trying to do the right thing...so props to them for that.

not my Prima, but just like mine...and one of the prettier photos i've seen of the Primas

Hope Matt gets to hit the mountains...he might have to go up to Taos (maybe Santa Fe) as it has been hella warm and hella dry...not sure how much snow is on the slopes... (my kids usually hit Durango for boarding...sometime Santa Fe if doing a one day trip.)

Will check the snow reports before he flies in.

Gavin

mmm, neither is great...Taos has a 51 in base...so ok, but not a ton for Taos...

Santa Fe is:
Base Depth:
39in

Mtn. Open:
98%

again, not a huge base, but doable...

Yes, Gavin, I saw that photo and saved it. I'd probably have gotten gray had I seen that just before I made my choice.

Well I'm a gray kinda guy...my favorite color since probably middle school.

That said, I really like the contrast of the white...and I usually don't like red cars, but the Prima photos coming out lately have made the red look really great...

Still glad I got grigio...It looks the most "mature"...kinda stately while still fun and sporty.

:)

Gavin

edit...as for the dash...i like the graphite bezel on both the gray and white (the white dash is a bit "bright" for me), but if I was getting the red prima I might change out the dash...the red car, to me, kinda calls out for the red dash.

Gavin, glad to hear you are finally getting your car in Albuquerque. Fiat has really taken you for a ride without ever getting into a car!

Never thought I'd say this, but I actually like the graphite more on the red than either of the other two colors. I know I am biased, but the matte-ish finish really does add a touch of class to a very sporty car (the glossy red feels and looks a bit cheaper and more plasticky in my opinion). Graphite also works really well with all the red accents (but that goes for all three interiors). I do agree that it looks good on the gray, and white, but I will be controversial and say that out of the three (and I've seen all three in person) the graphite/red combo is my favorite.

Hi Gavin,
Congratulations on the car delivery! Can't wait to hear the reactions of folks to the car during your travels and hearing some real world mileage reports.

Me too, Sam. The gray is really nice, and I was considering changing colors until I learned that it was too late to make a change. But, as this gray is essentially the same color as my current MINI, I think it's a good time to make a change. My red cars were a '72 Toyota Corolla, a '92 Honda Civic hatchback, and a '95 Saturn SL1. It's time for red again!

There are three at my dealer, two outside and one in the showroom. I also watched one being driven away. They look really good in grey. Of all colors, I think the black stripe easily looks best on the grey and the red bits on the wheels stand out well. Monochrome flows nicely to the interior where the red bits also stand out-and no bezel issue! Nice understated and classy look and won't be tiring to look at day after day-unlike the crazy Giallo I switched to which could get on my nerves-so my wife says anyways ( and she's always right, even when she's not).

You are going to like the car.

So after the Dealer gets their "license" or whatever, the second excuse is now that their computers can't print buyers orders. Are you kidding me! What a Joke! They told me it might be another week until it works.....!!!! This is Power Fiat of Torrance, an Autonation Dealer.

I didn't know it would be so hard to give a dealer money to buy a car.
